Daisy

I Roseline Daisy was born in the 1960s in London’s East End.  I have a passion for working with the community specifically with children and families. I became qualified as a probation officer, social worker and therapist and worked in the Criminal Justice System as a Youth Justice Manager for many years until I survived a stroke in 2008. My life then took a different direction. At that time I suffered several losses (of myself, my father, career, my family and my husband). I am now divorced and have three sons.

During my spare time I work voluntary for Blaksox (as a Blaksox sponsor since 2016) a social movement, focussed on mobilising and capacity building communities to ‘do for self’. I am also a school governor and my prime objective is to give back to the community.

My initial hypothesis for this creative piece was to act as a therapeutic tool to write about my health trauma that was my main impetus to write. However once I started writing I thought! “What do my children really know about me? What did I really know about my father, before he died?” It was at that point I decided to write a semi-autobiographical piece as a legacy to leave to my children.

I anticipate this book will assist health professionals whilst in training and once qualified to help them holistically in their practice with their patients and families. It will open up the world of the stroke survivor and difficulties relatives and carers face. Most importantly I hope my experience will support other stroke survivors and help them on their road to recovery.
